Il nostro mondo sarebbe impensabile senza la carta.
La carta è il mezzo per raccogliere e diffondere
informazioni, per trasformare le idee degli artisti in realtà, per impacchettare e per
innumerevoli altri usi spesso insospettabili. La carta oggi è quella "fatta a
macchina", carta industriale, non tutti conoscono l'arte della "carta a
mano".
Importata dalla Cina nel medioevo, la carta rivoluzionò
il mondo dell'informazione e della cultura, permettendo ad un numero sempre maggiore di
persone di accedere alla scrittura. Il passaggio dalla costosa pergamena alla carta di
stracci aprì la strada all'invenzione della stampa. Oggi la carta è ovunque e spesso se
ne dimentica il valore.

cartaria può dare la dimensione dell'importanza e del lavoro che un qualsiasi oggetto di

The Magic of Paper Medieval papermaking workshop
Our world would be
inconceivable without paper.
Paper is a medium for storing and conveying information,
for making the ideas of artist come true, you can use it to wrap objects and to do many
things you probably haven't thought of before.
Paper, as we know it now, is machine made paper, not
everybody knows the art and craft of handmade paper.
Since it was introduced from China, in the Middle Ages,
paper brought a revolution in the world of information and culture allowing a larger
number of people to approach writing.
Expensive parchment paper was replaced by paper made from
rags, thus making a way for the invention of printing.
Today paper is everywhere and that is why we often forget
its value.
Discovering the art and craft of handmade paper allows us
to understand the importance of the work hidden behind any paper object.
